I make herbal oils regularly, but alcohol has never played a role in my process. What does it do to the herbs? Also, yarrow and mugwort oil sounds divine. I’m definitely going to make some this summer!
I love the imagery here. This is beautiful. I have estafiate (native mugwort to central Texas) growing in my garden that I put in my tallow balm. It’s a dream. 🥰
I suggest getting a local foraging guide book. I live in New England so the species may vary. Artemesia Vulgaris is invasive in Ohio and Achillea Millefolium is a common in fields.

The alcohol extracts the compounds that aren't processed with oil.
Thank you!

I've used this oil in a tallow balm recipe, highly recommend the combo.
Bet! I’m going to try it.
I searched all last summer for Mugwort. I hope she comes to me this season!
Do you have any recommendations for sourcing these? I currently live in NC, but will be visiting OH very soon.
