I feel so silly for never putting two and two together. Of course there’s a reason roses are associated with love and romance beyond their pretty appearance. This was an amazing read I’d love part 2,3,and 4 if you have it 🌸💕
Absolutely YES to a part two! In TTC circles, Ashwaganda and Maca root are lauded as the key to enhancing libido and fertility. Could you maybe give your thoughts on those two?
I haven't used maca but my understanding is that it works best when combined with other fertility supplements. But it has been shown in both studies and traditional use in Peru to increase libido. When it comes to fertility that can be a very tricky subject because sometimes it's not a 'fertility herb' for the problem, because it really depends on the cause. Do you have any deficiencies? Any chronic health issues? What's your diet like? Are your hormone levels optimal? What is your mental health like?
Catching up on comments... I'm more familiar with it in Averyeda with a western lense. Traditionally, ashwaganda is seen as a man's tonic with its female counterpoint being shatavari. But I've used it before together. Ashwaganda and Shatavari is more of a general reproductive tonic similar to dong quai(balancing but not hormone like affects). But ashwaganda is more suited for mental health concerns because it's an adapotgen. The concern with ashwaganda is that it can increase testerone, but that tends to only be an issue if you overproduce testerone (like POCs) or gender affirming care because it should simply help restore optimal hormone levels.
Thank you for this beautiful reframe on the aphrodisiac plants as inviting us deeply into our sensuality and awakening the senses. I couldn’t agree more! Also love the plants you mentioned. I personally love lotus in water but I do understand there are many compound the water based extraction doesn’t allow for.

I had no clue the “ecosexual” was a thing and now I’m obsessed with this concept.
